What is Fiscal Sponsorship?
Fiscal sponsorship allows community initiatives to operate under the legal and tax-exempt status of an established 501(c)(3). Instead of forming a new nonprofit, you can raise funds and operate responsibly through CCI’s oversight and infrastructure. We offer two primary sponsorship models — Model A and Model C — designed to support different project structures and stages of development.
Comprehensive Fiscal Sponsorship (Model A)
Model A is designed for initiatives that do not have their own nonprofit status and need a legal and financial home. Under this model, your project operates as part of CCI and raises funds through our 501(c)(3) structure. This approach is ideal for early-stage initiatives seeking full integration and oversight.
Highlights:
• Operates under CCI’s 501(c)(3) status
• Functions as a program of CCI
• Donations are fully tax-deductible
• Funds are managed within CCI’s financial system
• Best for new or emerging initiatives
Granting / Pre-Approved Grant Relationship (Model C)
Model C is designed for organizations that operate as a separate legal entity but want access to charitable funding through CCI. Under this model, your organization maintains its own structure and leadership while CCI receives and re-grants approved funds in support of your charitable activities.
Highlights:
• Organization remains legally separate
• Can be an LLC, nonprofit, or other structure
• CCI receives and re-grants approved charitable funds
• Organization maintains its own governance
• Ideal for structured initiatives seeking fiscal oversight
